I went to see Dune 2 today and ngl my main motivation (apart from Zendaya and Florence Pugh) was to see Austin Butler on the big screen. If someone me told back before MoTA started that I would end up an Austin girlie I would've laughed SO HARD. Like I was so prepared to just endure his presence on the screen and then with every episode A Situation started developing culminating in me spending nearly 3 h at the movies. But he was truly great in Dune, stole every scene he was in so worth iiit :D

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II

Finally we have a Zeppelin album that actually belongs on this list. After the good but kinda aimless heavy blues rock of their debut Led Zeppelin are more focused and willing to explore their softer side on this one. The wild riffing and solos are still there, Whole Lotta Love has a wild energy that surpasses their first record right out the gate. But they also show that slower melodic songs are not beyong them. Lemon Song in particular is one of my favorites. Also it must be noted that Ramble On has one of the funniest verses in musical history. "'Twas in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair / But Gollum and the Evil One crept up and slipped away with her". Like I'm sorry but that's not your girl that is an orc.

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral

An edginess this pure and untainted by irony is so rare these days. For all the edge that early 00s nu metal acts tried to inject into their music it was all just imitation of the original edgelord album. Disregard for a minute what you think of Trent Reznor's lyricism. His skill as a compaer and arranger is unbelievable. The way he carefully lays out textures and uses dynamics so expertly to make the louds louder and quiets quieter. The push and pull of the dynamics brings out all of the tension in the album and tightens it more and more each track until, instead of the snap you are expecting, you get the gentle unwinding of Hurt.

Elvis Costello - This Year's Model

Costello returns with an entire backing band but no less sarcastic or bitchy. It means theres a bit more fullness to the songs but i cant help but think the rawness of his debut bridges the buddy holly meets punk rock gap better. This Year's Model still generates some bangers especially the title track and Pump It Up. Still seems weird to see this above My Aim Is True.

Van Morrison - Moondance

At first glance this seems like exactly the kind of album I would get bored of, soulful crooning over some mellow jazzy instrumentals. But Van Morrison is very captivating in his delivery and arrangement. He sings like he was dubbing over a trumpet line. There's also a lot of playfulness in his delivery, those little melismatic lines and it feels dreamy. The title track has a jauntiness to its melody that suggests a jazzy nutcracker suite. The result shoots past pastoral and straight into fairytale vibes.

Yes I know that’s his Aloha from Hawaii outfit and not the one from the show I’m seeing but the colors are pretty and I love the nails so don’t come at me 😤
